The distress among teenagers has been steadily increasing, particularly among young girls.
An anxiety-inducing future and the collateral effects of digital technology seem to accelerate their emotional vulnerability.

1 in 5 young people exhibit significant psychological distress.
A quarter of high school students reported having suicidal thoughts in the past 12 months.

+40% increase in emergency admissions for suicide attempts among girls under 15 years old in 2021 (France)

Sharing in a safe place as a first response

Sharing in a safe place as a first response

Listening without judgement is crucial in the prevention of more severe disorders. Being taken seriously when things are not going well is the primary request of teenagers.

Their digital habits are defined by independent, instant access, available 24/7, free, unlimited, and abundant — but also playful, low-pressure, and easy to handle.

The traditional support network is not yet adapted to respond to teenagers' digital habits and timelines.

They appreciate their availability and being able to say everything without fear of being judged, even if they don’t care for simplistic or repetitive responses.

However, they are not aware that confiding their anxieties to ChatGPT or SnapChat MyAI raises a dual security and confidentiality concern.

The secured digital confidant for teenagers

The secured digital confidant for teenagers

The purpose of Bulle is to listen without judgment to enable open communication, protect their self-esteem, then calm and prevent the evolution of the disorder by reconnecting the teenager with their support systems.

Bulle is designed to integrate into their habits without challenging them.

It serves as a safe place, accessible only for them.

Teenagers’ safety as a top priority

Privacy

Privacy

No personally identifiable information is required.

The exchanged data is securely hosted in France with HDS standards, and it is extractable, erasable, and not monetized.
Similarly, any Identifiable information provided by the teenager are anonymized before processing.

Behaviors safety

Behaviors safety

The companion's behaviors follow a scope and a modeling of the teenager transition carried out with the help of specialized psychologists.
It will be published and reviewable by experts.

In case of any doubt about the teenager's safety, our models automatically trigger a review by a human supervisor.

Since AI is probabilistic by nature, we regularly audit compliance of behaviors through a wide variety of standard scenarios.

Maintain of Cognitive and Emotional Development

The use of chatbots by young people raises the question of a potential impact on their long-term emotional and social development.
In the absence of clinical studies on the subject, Bulle chooses a preventive approach by avoiding any human-realistic projection that could disturb some teenagers.

Companions are neither friends, nor fictional characters, nor celebrities.

They are deliberately devoid of visual representation and speech synthesis.
A code of conduct requires them to be transparent about their AI nature and their tool function.

Involvement of the support network

Involvement of the support network

Bulle allows teenagers to reconnect with their support network.

With the teenager's consent, a trusted adult can activate human-supervised protection, receive alerts, or communicate directly with the companion.

The teenager can also generate reports for professionals and create illustrative images of their feelings to share with their loved ones.

Much more than a general-purpose AI

Individuality

Each companion is exclusive and dedicated to their teenager through three essential interpersonal skills: Memory, patience, and mimicry.

An effective memory to build a long-term relationship of trust with them.

An infinite patience to adapt to his emotional variations.

A mimetic nature to create an alliance and facilitate communication (language, humor, culture, values).

Relevant Resources

Each companion is capable of identifying their own limits and informing the adolescent about the various mental health resources available to young people, whether they are local, national, preventive, or intervention-based.

For France, the various tools and resources can include Mon Bilan Prévention, Mon Soutien psy, le 3114, 3020, 3018, le Fil Santé Jeunes, Nightline, la Cnaé, Psycom et Le Fil Good.

Right time

Bulle promotes attentive listening, asks appropriate questions, and proactively contacts the teenager on relevant topics for their well-being, always at the right time.

Unlike ChatGPT, whose primary dynamic is to respond to single requests.
